For those who haven't known about it may think it is a separate island facing west. It is often cited as being the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that is the case, her time there was short. Brugel developed on Courtice just outside Oshawa within Ontario. Her early ambition was to dance but an increase in her height led to her growing beyond the dancers she was with. According to an article in the Toronto Star, she revealed that in heels she was six feet and one inches tall. After I became too big for my male friends, I quit. Many former dancers turn to acting, and in Brugel's situation, it was the nudge of the drama instructor at her high school who pushed her in the right direction. The teacher suggested she try getting a part in the school's annual production. The teacher who suggested she pursue a part the school's annual show. She was awarded a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to attend York University's Theatre Program, where she graduated from the program in 2000, earning a degree of Bachelor's in Fine Arts. In the past 20 years, her work has been featured on both the small and large screen. Her work gained most fame when she was offered the part as Rita in the award-winning television show The Handmaid's Tale.
